Hello everyone! My name is Raymond Lin and I’m very thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to share my background and aspirations as an intern at iDEIntity. In this blog post, I want to expand on the personal significance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and express my excitement about being a part iDEIntity, a company that truly values and abides by these principles. I will also outline my internship objectives and detail my intentions for actively participating in the organization’s continuous DEI initiatives.
During the early stages of my childhood, I had lived in a predominantly Asian community until my middle school and high school years where I had moved into a very diverse community. Everyone around me was different and it was hard for me to fit in or relate with other people from my school and community. However, after a few months and meeting welcoming new people helped make the transition easier. It taught me how important it was to be inclusive and understanding of others so that no one feels abandoned or insignificant.
I currently reside in New York and I attend Stuyvesant High School. I participate in various different clubs in my school like the theater community and yearbook club. I am also the technology director for the Bridging Seas club in my school which has very similar values to iDEIntity where we try to connect Asian American culture with the Asian culture in Asia. I am also the Sponsorships director for Stuy Hacks and I also a senpai for the Cs Dojo at my school. I also enjoy volunteering for my community by teaching the elderly more about technology through Teens Teach Technology or tutoring the youth through Apex Youth.
In iDEIntity, I hope to learn and execute the principles of iDEIntity more because these values are also very important to me as a person. I hope to accomplish my goals with these principles in mind. I hope to push iDEIntity’s agenda with my knowledge and skills as a web developer. I wish to work closely with the DEI team and learn the skills needed to elevate my knowledge and create something wonderful that will have a very large and positive impact on iDEIntity’s future. Lastly, I want to uphold DEI’s principles and help create an inclusive community that provides the resources and workplace culture that helps everyone feel included and important.

These values are not only important to me because of my background but also because of how important they are for a successful workplace and team. Without these values in place, a workplace is bound to be less successful than it should be. Diversity, equity, and inclusion means that no matter what race, what social background, and where you’re from shouldn’t affect how you’re treated at this company. It means that everyone is welcomed and anyone could have this opportunity to work, learn, and improve.
